Chinese tradition marks the start of the new year by decorating red canvasses. The Roman early calendar included 10 months. Each one was a 304 days and the new year started in March. In the early calendar, the ninth to 12th years were known as the seventh through tenth months. Julius Caesar, the Roman Emperor, created a solar-based system of calendars.
